In about September, I started thinking about what I should do with my time in the following summer. I know September is a bit early. If you haven't already figured it out, I'm kind of a planner. So in September when I was debating this tough decision I knew one thing; I wanted to travel. After coming to that realization, I started praying about it and researching, and through those methods, decided I was to go on a mission trip. I expressed this interest to my parents. After that, my mom mentioned this exact trip to me. She knew about it because our neighbor's son and daughter in law are the two who lead the trip. I talked to his daughter in law, Mary, about a few details of the trip, and after one phone conversation, I knew this was the mission for me - this is what was supposed to fill my summer month!
After deciding I was going to Uganda, I asked my mom to go with me. She was extremely cautious and slow to say yes, but after a lot of prayer and thought, she decided to come too! She will be in Uganda until July 17 and I will be there until July 30. During our time we will have the opportunity to go on a safari, teach a few bible lessons, take food buckets into the village, visit a baby orphanage, and most importantly, love on some kids. We will spend the majority of our time at the orphanage, Lulwanda Children's Home. The link below will lead you to the website if you want to learn more about it!

We will have wifi at the compound where we'll be staying so if you want/need to contact either my mom or me, please feel free to email or Facebook message us! We are so excited and thankful to be going on the journey together and I will try to update this blog as often as possible with info and pictures for ALL of you readers out there... hey Granny!
To end this post, I'll leave you with a quote that really tugs at my heart strings. I can't exactly recommend the book because I haven't read it, but I really love this quote from the book, Radical by David Platt. It's part of the reason why I live my life the way I do and something that I think everyone should realize and take into account whether you're interested in doing mission work in another country or not. It's not just about traveling to another country, it's about truly listening to God's will for your life even if it's not what you think you want to hear.
I find it interesting that one of the most common questions asked today among Christians is “What is God’s will for my life?” or “How do I find God’s will for my life?” Many Christians have almost assumed the attitude that they would obey God if he would just show them what he wanted them to do. In the middle of a Christian culture asking, “How do I find God’s will for my life?” I bring good news. His will is not lost. With 1.4 million Bedouins in Algeria who have never even heard the gospel, it makes little sense for us to sit over here asking, “What do you want me to do, God?”
First of all, I'm obsessed with you. Urgently and Recklessly? You rock so much. I've added your blog to my bookmarks bar and you'd better know I'll be stalking you this summer! I just wanted to say I am so inspired by your love for God and for others. I hope you know you continually impact me positively, even when we're apart. Also, I pass Rose Street on my way home from work every weekend and think of you. I miss you! I can't wait to see what God has in store for you in Uganda this month. MeMaw and I will be praying! I love you, Amy!
